There’s something truly magical about a GARDEN WEDDING IN CHRISTCHURCH, especially when it blends beautiful landscapes with those spontaneous moments that make a day unforgettable.
This Garden wedding in Christchurch had all of that and more — from a heartfelt first look high above the coastline to a fairy-lit backyard celebration that felt like stepping into someone’s own personal wonderland.
A First Look at Scarborough View Point
The day began mostly cloudy, when we headed to Scarborough View Point for the first look, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. As soon as Lauren tapped Lachlan’s shoulder, their reactions said it all — pure joy, a few happy tears, and that shared “we’re really doing this” excitement.
With the Port Hills behind us and the coastline stretching out below, we captured some bridal party photos. Scarborough has this incredible way of making people feel both grounded and on top of the world at the same time — the wind in the hair, the ocean breeze, and the wide open views that make every frame feel expansive.
A Backyard Ceremony Filled With Heart
From there, we made our way back to the couple’s home, transformed beautifully into the sweetest garden venue. Fairy lights were strung between trees, florals softened every corner, and the whole space buzzed with friends and family celebrating.
When the Clouds Finally Parted
After a day of soft grey skies, we weren’t expecting much from the sunset — but Christchurch had other plans. As guests were settling in for the evening, the clouds suddenly broke apart and this incredible golden glow burst through, bathing the garden in warm, honey-coloured light.
Naturally, we snuck away for a few sunset portraits, before heading back into the garden for some nightime shots under the fairy lights. It all came together to give them the perfect ending to their photos.
